What is Onprem:
The windows server operating system, set up of Active directory and Exchange server setup called as Onprem.
The user account will be created in Active directory,
The mailbox will be enabled in Exchange server ex: 2016 or 2019
users can exchange their mails internally, with SSL certificate they can send/receive emails from external users too.
Physical infrastructure is needes,
High volume and cost of servers and racks needed.
What is Cloud:
The pure Office365 Tenant with Office365 admin center, Exchange Online, and Azure active directory called as Cloud environment.
users can send emails to any domain that means they can exchange the mails between any domain.
User Active will be created in Office365 admin center under active users, license will be assigned to user like E1 or E3 or E5, once license is assigned after 30 minutes the mailbox will be created in exchange online portal.
The user attribute can be modified from azure active directory like user name, display name, first name, last name, department, reporting manager etc.
No physical infrastructure is needed,
No server cost, Microsoft will manage,
